Pre-Treatment Is the Secret to the Best Finish!
Here at Impact Coatings, it is important that our environmental footprint is as small as possible, which is why we use environmentally friendly products and processes. Sticking to our eco-friendly system, we prefer to use Zirconium Phosphate, as it is safer than already existing products used in industry. For the pre-treatment of more delicate items, we use an acid pickle process, and for the larger less delicate items, we provide a hand-prepared treatment. To remove old paint rust, we perform a shot or bead blasting method to ensure the item is not damaged in the process. So, call our team for more information today!
Further Details of Our Range of Pre-Treatments Include:
- Shot-blasting & bead-blasting: used to remove old paint rust, or just to give a rough key to steel using our own shot-blasting facilities. We can advise what can be done and what can’t be done.
- Zirconium Phosphate: the latest technology; very environmentally friendly; very good pre-treatment for a variety of metals, giving extra life protection.
- Iron Phosphate pre-treatment: an old system used mainly on internal components; shorter life-span than Zirconium, but still offers good protection on a variety of metals.
- Acid pickle process: used to soften aluminium surfaces to complement our Zirconium Phosphate process; also used where rusting items can’t be shot-blast due to their delicate nature. We will advise you on what can and can’t be done.
- Hand-prepared pre-treatment: using solvent or environmentally friendly cleaners for larger items. Items can then be etch-primed, using non-chromate wet spray in our large wet spray booth, also giving extra life protection.

As per our team’s expertise, securing the correct pre-treatment is paramount to achieving a superior end result. We dedicate significant efforts to provide and apply pre-treatment solutions for a diverse range of surfaces, including wood, aluminium, zinc-plated items, copper, brass, mild steel, and numerous other materials. The Impact Coatings team possesses extensive proficiency in the realm of coatings, enabling us to offer informed guidance on a spectrum of options.
